Summer Season - Week Seven - August 2nd

REMINDER: Lacrosse and Hockey Gloves will only be allowed as per OBHA Rules. Players caught with any other gloves will kindly be removed from the game.

- Coming out of the break, two teams have caught fire while two teams are caught in a downward spiral.

- Sabr, riding high off of a 3-1 victory over Haya has now become the only team to hand every single team a defeat. #1 overall pick Omar Husain finally had his breakout game notching 2 Goals. While the immortal captain himself, Arif Khan had another multi point performance. GM Arslan Mian has drafted the deepest team in the league as they were without 5 key players and yet still pulled out an easy victory. Sabr has yet to field a complete roster but once that happens, this is not a team that will lose.

- Yaqeen, who seem to be rejuvenated with the addition of Luqman Arshad handed Ihsan another L, with a 5-1 thrashing. After being called out last week by critics, Farrukh Khan finally put them to rest as he had his best game in a couple of years with a 3 point night. Looks like the addition of Luqman, has allowed Farrukh to finally become comfortable with his skill. Ali Murtaza who has been Mr Murtaztic this season has turned the clock back about 20 years with a season for the ages, is leading the league with 5 goals. Once considered a depth piece in seasons past, he has firmly planted his name in the consideration for top minutes. And finally what can we say about the one, the only MO Hamoudi, week after week he has inserted himself as a star of the week. The move to Centre has not only helped him breakout but only add to his scary game. As the once feared defenceman is slowly becoming a jack of all trades as his offensive game is becoming better.

- Haya, the team with all the snipers but zero speed. It looks like the draft strategy employed has come to bite Dawood Ciombar in the behind as this team is consistently being out hustled and outworked. Relying on Dawood and Omar Essawi will only get you so far when all they can do is shoot. Ibrahim Hindy needs to rally this group and deploy some serious gameplanning as they look lost. Sulemaan Bhatti has been quiet since being separated from Maaz Haq, while Imran Lakhanpal has been absent since the rink city days and Dawood does not have his trusty sidekick Humza Ali to take over games. This team will only win by hustling, but sadly they have none. But hey they have the bonecrusher himself, Umer Buksh, atleast his game instills fears in opponents heads.

- Ihsan, the team that looks like it has some sort of black magic casted over them, as attendance issues have simply ravaged this team. On one hand you have the superstar Yusuf Ingar who is the premier finisher but where has the support been for him. Ajmal Esmatyar needs to stop being gun shy and let his offensive prowess take over as he seems to resistant to do anything out on the floor. The big loss of Faraaz Alvi, leaves a gaping hole in this lineup, Shan Malik has been a ghost and with his family member Ejaz Malik joining, they need to turn back the clocks and produce like they are known to. One can only dream of what an Ammal-Yusuf-Abraar lineup can do, but Ajmal needs to get these guys to the arena and fast as the season is winding down.

- Arif Khan, the captain as his Sabr teammates call him. Arif is over 20 years older than 90% of his Sabr teammates, yet has the slickest hands of em all. His hands were on display at this past weeks Salaam Cup as he was paired up with the legend Osman Buttar and led the OG Greenbirds to the Masters title. Coach Arslan Mian, specifically put Arif with Buttar and has now shown that he can turn to “The Captain” in the dire seconds of any game.

- Speaking of Masters, the all I-slam Masters team is probably most defined as the team in white, Yaqeen. As they boast an average of 45 years old. This goes to show you that age doesn’t mean a thang! As experience and skill trumps em all.

- Ammar and Fahad Panchbaya, two steals whom Arslan have drafted have played solid all summer long and provided Sabr with the depth needed to be the #1 team. This just goes to show you the depth that lies in Malton and as more talent starts to come over to I-Slam, these young players will continue to shine and take over the league.

Three Burning Questions of the Week:
1) Will Ihsan get back on the right track with the additions of Ejaz Malik and Ahmad Khawaja? Can Abraar Gangat and Yusuf Ingar spark that Malton power and take over games with their offense?
2) Does Haya get a big game from some one other than Dawood Ciombar and Omar Essawi? Can Sulemaan Bhatti, Imran Lakhanpal and Ibrahim Hindy bring back the offensive game their known for, or used to be known for?
3) Will Mo Hamoud continue to light up the scoreboard? He has a point in each game and has been the catalyst behind Yaqeen’s rise to the top Or is this the game where the Old Boys like Ali Murtaza, Brian Beauvais and Ahmed Ibrahim dominate and show the world that they still have tons of game left?
