Summer Season - Week Eight - August 9th

REMINDER: Lacrosse and Hockey Gloves will only be allowed as per OBHA Rules. Players caught with any other gloves will kindly be removed from the game.

- Farooq Sani is back

- Haya lacking hustle? Nope not anymore. Throw last week’s news and rumours out the window. With the BIG claim of Farooq Sani, Haya has turned around its season. GM Dawood Ciombar has finally found the missing piece to his puzzle. Although they didn’t come out with a win against Ihsan, a tie was the next big thing. This team is trending upwards. With a big game from some of the lesser known players in Ibrahim Khan and Ali Haroon, this team needs everyone to be firing on all cylinders like it did against Ihsan. Big sniper (Dawood)? Check. Star Defenceman (Essawi)? Check. One of the best all around players (Sani)? Check. Ready to prove the critics wrong with all of this Hustle talk? Check. This team is on the come up. They will be a top 3 finisher

- Ihsan the team still ravaged by attendance issues. Where has the young Abraar Gangat been? This team needs him to show up. Only 2 games played is not a good look for the young stud. GM Ajmal Esmatyar has been blessed with drafting Yusuf Ingar and his brother with the slick hands Ammal Esmatyar, but the lack of secondary scoring is killing this team. Makes you wonder if Ajmal is regretting taking Abraar so high only for him to barely show up. Atleast the ones that have showed up, such as Jaweed Majeed have been instrumental in keeping this team competitive. Playoffs are coming up and this team needs to gel asap. You can not keep relying on a 7-8 man bench week in and week out

- Yaqeen with a poor showing this week. Managing only 10 shots? While Sabr only played with 2 defenceman. This is a wakeup call for the veteran team, as their success in recent weeks can not get to their heads. This team needs to start playing smart controllable hockey while peppering the opposition with shots. Critics noticed that the man himself, Samad Hamidi has been looking quite solid this year, week in and week out making huge blocks and doing pretty much anything to keep his team in the game. I believe this week is the game where the veterans will strike. Not much needs to be said except the veterans need to score. The defence will handle the opposition but offence can not be idle. They were missing stars Ali Murtaza, Mudasser Hussain and Brian Beauvais

- Sabr continues to defy all odds. GM Arslan Mian looks to be having his most successful GM as a season so far. They continue to win, even with a short bench. Umar Mahmood and Vasim Kagzi played the whole game!!!! Playing the full game in the heat while only giving up 10 shots is insane. Farhan Saleh notched the lone goal to seal the deal for Sabr. Ahmad Mobin has been having his greatest season to date and will need to continue this type of play heading into the playoffs. Arslan Mian has to be laughing right now as the steal of the draft Umar Mahmood has been nothing short of spectacular on the backend for Sabr. Mahmood has it all, hands, IQ but once that shot from the point is developed, we have a stud defenceman in the making

- Ammal Esmatyar continues his offensive tear with 2 goals last week. He now leads the league with 5Goals and 9Points. Players are often left puzzled as a man of his stature can have such slick hands and light feet. Once Abraar Gangat decides to show up, this team potentially has the most dangerous first line in the league

- Ibrahim Hindy, the other player in the Farooq Sani acquisition has quietly produced a very productive season so far notching 5 points while missing 3 games. With a lot of playmakers on Ihsan, look for Ibrahim to start hitting the net more.  One of his underrated contributions is what he brings in leadership and tactics, something that Haya will miss and Ihsan will prosper with

- Imran Lakhanpal, yes a weekly call out until he puts up a stat other than Penalty Minutes. He now leads the league in…..Penalties? Not sure what is happening with the big fella, but for him to get his scoring touch back, he needs to lay off the penalties and start shooting the ball more

- As mentioned earlier, Jaweed Majeed has been a nice surprise this season with 5 assists. The slick defenseman has benefited heavily under the leadership of Ajmal. The next steps for Jaweed needs to be to develop that shot and look to set up his snipers more often

3 Burning Questions of the Week:
1) Will Ihsan finally have a big bench for this pivotal game against Sabr? Is this the game where Abraar Gangat finally shows up?
2) The hustle from Haya definitely showed last week. Is this the week where Sani takes over the game?
3) Sabr beat the living snot out of Ihsan, 5-1 last time they met. Can Sabr continue rolling past opponents like it has been?
